Meet the Team

Wally van Welie Owner and President of Aviation Adventures Flying Club in Hazyview and a “C” grade instructor with over 3500 flying hours, and working towards his “B” grading.  Retired from the corporate world in 2005 to follow his passion of flying – was a late starter so had some catching up to do as sitting in an office or traveling the world as a management consultant was no longer grabbing his attention. Is married to Daveen for the last 43yrs.

Daveen van Welie Can’t believe that retirement can be so hectic. She handles all the marketing, customer relations, reservations and administration for the club, as well as club members comfort while waiting for flights or just generally having a good time. No one goes thirsty or hungry while she is around. She also has a passion for keeping the club hangar spotless, and woe betides the pilot who forgets to place the oil drip tray in place.

Alec Green– Owner and Chief Flying instructor of Aviation Adventure Flight School in Nelspruit.  Alec is a commercial pilot, an “A” grade microlight instructor, a PPL (private pilots license) instructor,  an ‘AP” (approved person for maintenance on microlights,  and is working towards his air transport qualification. He has in excess of 7000 flying hours on various microlights and light aircraft. Alec has trained most of the many Bantam pilots in South Africa. Alec is married to Hester and they have 4 sons, who also may fly one day.

Hester Green - Is the Operations Manager of the flight school, keeping track of Alec and his students, handling the administration, and the smooth running of all the documentation required by the authorities.  Hester also has her microlight pilots license.

The whole team ensures that both the Flying Club and the Flight School is running efficiently and safely.
